In essence, Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that stresses education and awareness techniques by teaching our citizens how to help themselves by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. It provides the citizens of Liberty County with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. Neighborhood Watch groups promote social interaction and simply “watch our for each other”. Most Neighborhood Watch groups are organized around a block or a neighborhood and are started with assistance of our Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Neighborhood Watch Coordinator works closely with community members, neighborhood associations, state and county agencies, school districts, businesses and many civic organizations to address criminal activities, internet and telephone scams and physical security needs.
To form a Neighborhood Watch group contact your neighbors and attempt to identify what are your main concerns regarding crime and personal safety. Then call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 912-876-2131 and leave your name and telephone number to schedule your first meeting.
