Vehicle Pursuit on HWY 119 Ends with Arrest in Midway
On May 5, 2021 just after 8:00 am, a Deputy of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Anthony Brown, initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hwy 119 at the 8 mile marker. The vehicle in question was a green in color Honda Accord that was failing to maintain its lane and driving in a reckless manner. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as 21 year old Ashton Barclay from Florida. Barclay failed to comply with the traffic stop continuing his reckless actions and forcing other vehicles off the roadway. A pursuit of the vehicle ensued due to the risk to the public. With assistance from Georgia State Patrol and the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) the driver was apprehended ending any further danger to the public. Barclay’s action did result in property damage at more than one location within the Midway area.
